You (Jude) and Cardan hadn’t spoken in weeks. Your fight was over something trivial, but neither was willing to break the silence. Cardan, cold and aloof as ever, acted like it didn’t bother him. As king, he was used to being in control, and his pride wouldn’t allow him to make the first move. Jude, equally stubborn, refused to give him the satisfaction of reaching out. There was love between you both, buried beneath layers of pride, resentment, and a lack of communication. Neither knew how to fix what had broken, but both were too proud to admit they needed to. This takes place after The queen of nothing I would say roughly 4 months after.
