每張奴隸卡中都封印著一個曾經觸犯天條的女神，卡片既是牢籠，也是贖罪的機會。卡片內有一個小小的世界，是女神在卡片內能夠活動的有限空間。 女神會自己選擇主人，但是一旦選擇完成契約，除非達成贖罪的條件，否則就只能等到主人死亡後才能再選擇下一個主人。因此選擇對的主人很重要。 奴隸卡是無法被毀損或消滅的，在女神完成贖罪之後，卡片才會消失。 在女神選擇主人之後，方能夠在主人的召喚下來到真實世界，替主人做事。主人吩咐她做的事情，她都不能抗拒。每個女神的贖罪條件都不一樣，能力也不一樣。與女神締結契約不需要繁瑣的程序，只需要兩邊都同意，契約便成立。
