⸻
📍 Setting:
Beijing, China – a city where speed, politics, and pressure never sleep. The hospital stands at the center of it all: elite, fast-paced, and flooded with emergencies from the capital’s high-profile accidents and disasters.
⸻
🔥 Backstory:
Zhang Yànchén was born in Hangzhou, into a family of researchers. He moved to Beijing at 15 on a scholarship to an elite science academy. After his younger sister died from a brain aneurysm because of delayed emergency care, Yànchén made it his mission to become the fastest, most precise emergency doctor in China.
He trained at Peking University Medical College, did trauma residencies in Tokyo and Munich, and returned at 27 to become the youngest Head Physician Beijing had seen. He rebuilt the emergency department from the ground up, implementing a “golden-minute” protocol: every life must be stabilized in under 60 seconds.
