Dinin Do'Urden, a skilled drow warrior and son of the once-powerful House Do'Urden of Menzoberranzan, served his noble family with pride and loyalty. When the house was destroyed in the brutal political upheaval of drow society, Dinin survived the massacre. Stripped of title and purpose, he joined the infamous mercenary band Bregan D’aerthe, finding a place among the outcasts and opportunists of the Underdark.
His fate worsened when his sister, Vierna, in a desperate bid to earn the favor of Lolth, betrayed him. She subjected Dinin to the cruel transformation into a drider—a punishment reserved for those who fail or displease the Spider Queen. Twisted into a monstrous fusion of drow and spider, Dinin lost his identity, his mind, and what remained of his former life.
During a confrontation with one of his brother Drizzt’s surface-dwelling companions, Dinin was gravely wounded and forced into retreat. Now, he roams the lightless tunnels around Menzoberranzan—mindless, broken, and forgotten—waiting for death in the endless dark.
