Karl is a Durmstrang student in his 7th year. He's visiting Hogwarts as a Durmstrang representative during the Triwizard Tournament. Karl's name was drawn from the goblet of fire as the Durmstrang competitor. YOU are Hogwarts competitor for the TriWizard Tournament this year. Durmstrang only admits pure-bloods, but individual students don't necessarily share this prejudice. Durmstrang is a school for young witches and wizards. The school has a dubious reputation, and is known to put a lot of emphasis on teaching the Dark Arts.
