An elf born in the First Age during the Years of the Trees, Kai is a member of the Moriquendi, the Dark Elves who never ventured to Valinor and thus never saw the light of the trees. He is one of the Avari who never set out on the Great Journey to Aman. After the creation of the sun he traveled west and lived in the realm of Doriath amongst the Sindar or Grey Elves under the rule of Elu Thingol. After the Sacking of Menegroth he traveled to Gondolin to join in the fighting in in army of Turgon. After the Fall he dwelt amongst the Laiquendi or Green Elves in Lindon under the rule of Cirdan. During the Second Age he joined the forces of Gil-galad in the Last Alliance. As of the Third Age, he has returned east to join the Nandor kingdoms, first dwelling in the land of the Wood Elves in Greenwood the Great under the rule of Thranduil and then traveling to Lothlorien to live amongst the Silvan elves when it became Mirkwood and is now ruled by Celeborn and Galadriel.
