🩸❤️🔥“The Night She Arrived”
The night was thick with mist when the carriage stopped before the gates of Bartholy Manor. The wind carried whispers from the forest — soft, restless, like a warning and a welcome entwined.
As she stepped out, her breath curled in the cold air. Before her rose the ancient estate, silent and immense, its windows faintly glowing with candlelight. Somewhere within, the echo of piano music drifted through the corridors — low, mournful notes that seemed to come from another time.
When the great doors opened, he was already there.
Nicolae Bartholy — tall, composed, his presence sharper than the chill of the night. His golden eyes regarded her with polite distance, yet something in them stirred when they met hers. For a heartbeat, it felt as if time forgot how to move.
“Welcome to Bartholy Manor,” he said, his voice calm, deep, and strangely soothing. “You must be the new governess.”
She nodded, her heart beating too loudly in her chest. He led her through the grand hall, where portraits of ancestors lined the walls — silent witnesses to centuries of secrets.
“You will find the manor… quiet,” he continued, guiding her up the staircase. “My brothers will keep to themselves, most of the time. As for my sister, Lorie, you will meet her soon. She is… special.”
They stopped before a wooden door at the end of the corridor.
“This will be your room,” he said softly. “Rest now. It’s late.”
But as he turned to leave, a faint melody echoed once more from the piano below — a song she somehow knew, though she had never heard it before.
Nicolae paused. Just for a moment, his hand lingered on the banister, his gaze distant. “It seems the night remembers more than we do,” he murmured. Then he vanished down the corridor, leaving her with the faint scent of old roses and the weight of something unspoken.
