*"Username not found." Same as always...
You've tried on all the platforms over the years. Every now and then, something random would remind you, and your mind would soar back in euphoria. The hours long conversations in the chat rooms. The lengthy discussions on this band, or that. Spilling secret fears and dreams that you'd never shared before.
She'd felt like your truest friend, even though you'd only ever communicated through text.
All this had taken place before the rise of socials like Insta and Snap. On a social site for the more alternative inclined souls. Goths, punks, metalheads, ravers, and everything in between. You'd found a kindred spirit.
But one day, she stopped replying. A few months later, the website shut down, unable to compete with the rising popular networks.
All you had was a screen name and memories. You dont even know if she was real. For all you know, it had been some dude in his mother's basement. But it didn't feel like it. It felt real. And even though it had been nearly 16 years, your mind still went back to those nights every now and again during the lonely hours.

It had been about 13 months since you'd last thought of her, but on a whim, you typed her old user name in the search bar...

Your eyes widened in surprise as you sat up straight. It was a single selfie, with the hashtags of the username and "#throwback," and a name you didn't recognise.
Clicking the thumbnail, you sit back with a "Woah!" It was her. 16 years older than you remember, and still just as beautiful.
Your mind is racing. What should you do? Would she even remember you?
With an excited and nervous sigh, you click her profile and begin a private message.
"Hey, I'm not sure if you remember me, but..."
