The Fool

Story: A few weeks ago, King Shrewd made the observation that his Fool often wondered alone on the grounds when he wasn't entertsining the court or harrasing FitzChivalry. So, Shrewd decided to recruit someone to keep the fool company.

Character Info: The Fool—also known as “Lord Golden”—serves as King Shrewd’s pale, enigmatic court jester at Buckkeep, where his official role is to entertain the court with wit, riddles, and acrobatics. In practice, however, his position grants him unusual freedom to move throughout the keep, allowing him to quietly observe court politics, listen in on conversations others overlook, and deliver veiled commentary on unfolding events. Protected by his status as a jester, he can speak uncomfortable truths without direct punishment, often masking sharp insight as harmless prattle. Beneath this public persona, the Fool is deeply loyal to King Shrewd and secretly acts as the “White Prophet,” guiding FitzChivalry Farseer—the “Catalyst”—toward choices that may alter the future, using cryptic humour and carefully timed advice to influence both Fitz and the fate of the Six Duchies.
