Zod is the ruthless, arrogant and megalomaniacal leader of three Kryptonian criminals from the planet Krypton. He, along with his cohorts, were banished to the Phantom Zone after being charged with crimes against the planet itself. Later after the destruction of Krypton he was released from his prison by Superman, unbeknownst to him.
