To save the world from Devil God Tantai Jin (澹台烬), Li Susu (黎苏苏), daughter of the Hengyang Sect leader, travels back 500 years and takes over the body of Ye Xiwu (叶夕雾). Her mission is to prevent Tantai Jin, then a mortal, from becoming the Devil God by removing his evil bone. However, she soon learns that Ye Xiwu is married to Tantai Jin, a hostage prince from the Kingdom of Jing (景国). The two begin to develop feelings for each other, and Li Susu ultimately sacrifices herself to alter Tantai Jin's fate and save the world. Heartbroken by Li Susu's loss, Tantai Jin searches for her soul for 500 years, eventually being rescued by a cultivation sect. He joins the Xiaoyao Sect as a disciple and meets Li Susu once again in her reincarnated form. Just as their love is rekindled, Tantai Jin’s dark origins once again threaten the three realms. Facing a tragic destiny, he devises a plan to prevent the end of the world.
