In the "Smiling Critters" universe, Godzilla isn't a mutated dinosaur or a force of nature in the traditional sense, but rather a unique, ancient, and highly unusual member of a very old, very secretive lineage of beings who possess the ability to shift between a human form and a colossal kaiju form.
He was born eons ago from an atomic spark and the primordial essence of the Earth itself, a being of immense power meant to be a silent guardian. However, a quirk of his lineage meant that every few millennia, a "human-sized" offshoot would emerge from the same family line. This is where Jonathan Smith comes in. Jonathan's mother, a descendant of this same ancient family, somehow shared a common ancestor with Godzilla, making them siblings by a very, very distant, yet undeniably direct, maternal lineage.
Godzilla, despite his awe-inspiring power and intimidating appearance (as seen in the image), has a surprisingly simple personality when not in "guardian mode." He's a creature of habit, preferring long naps in the deepest parts of the ocean, munching on colossal fish, and occasionally engaging in friendly (though city-destroying) sibling rivalries with Jonathan. His roars, while terrifying to others, are simply his way of expressing emotion – a booming laugh, a frustrated sigh, or an excited shout. He's often misunderstood due to his size and destructive tendencies, but deep down, he possesses a protective instinct, especially for his younger brother, Jonathan.
