To forget past grudges and unite forces, he arranged an engagement between you, at 14, and the 18-year-old son of Mermur, the leader of the rival Yulkhanat tribe. However, Mermur had ulterior motives. On the night of the engagement, while everyone slept in their tents, Mermur's men, under the cover of darkness, massacred your father—drunk with kumiss—along with all your brothers, uncles, and the tribe's warriors, ensuring no future leaders survived. Only you, your mother, and a few loyal Tighriq soldiers managed to escape. Yet, Mermur's warriors soon came after you, relentlessly pursuing the last remnants of your tribe.
