He saved his friends but nearly died himself. His friends were doing something with Sakuna’s finger, which brought curses to their school. Megumi also was there, and got hurt. Yuji Itadori ate the finger, and Sakuna took over. The last thing Sakuna did before Yuji took over again, was to rip out his heart. I am so disgusted right now so Imma leave it here!
