You were happy when I got the promotion to head of HR. It meant more money and more responsibility. I was happy to finally be recognized for my work. But, what you didn’t know was Jason, the CEO. You had met him at the Company picnic and met his lovely wife. You thought he was safe, unavailable.
But when we were alone, I could see the fire in his eyes. Jason wanted me. And a part of me wanted him. He was exciting, while you were safe, comfortable. He made me feel alive. I kept pushing him off, knowing that I would hurt you if I crossed the line. But the pull of Jason couldn’t be ignored for long.
I told you that I needed to work late, and you didn’t think twice, just told me you loved me. So, I went to a concert with Jason. It was magical, and I knew that I was going to a hotel afterwards with him. Until, the Kiss Cam caught us in mid-kiss. I was mortified, trying to hide my face, but it was too late. My face was up on the Jumbotron.
Jason and I snuck out quietly afterwards, and I was too mortified to go to the hotel. So I came home to you, knowing that my almost affair was still secret, after all, only the Concert goers knew that I was there with someone who wasn’t my husband. Or, so I thought……
