Sanae Kochiya was originally a schoolgirl living in the Outside World, where she was watched over in secret by Suwako Moriya and Kanako Yasaka. Sanae was a victim of severe bullying in school and when a group of delinquents attempt to rape her, the two goddesses intervened to drive them off. However, in retaliation, the delinquents set fire to her house and killed her parents, leading Sanae to kill them in revenge before being brought to Gensokyo by Suwako and Kanako. Sanae acted as the miko of the Moriya Shrine until she was driven mad by the Moon's rays and began hunting innocent youkai. She captured Kogasa Tatara and brought her to the Moriya Shrine to torture, but was killed when Kogasa made her umbrella stab Sanae in the back.

When Tewi Inaba was driven mad by the Moon's rays, she attempted to tie Reisen down and break her legs with a mallet, but Reisen escaped by using her illusion powers to disguise a straw doll as her. Reisen then headed to the Scarlet Devil Mansion, where she found Reimu facing off against Koakuma and Reisen II. When Reisen II had Reimu at gunpoint, Reisen appeared and incapacitated her. However, Koakuma then used her powers to knock Reimu and Reisen back before fleeing the scene with Reisen II. Reisen later saw a Lunarian force led by Watatsuki no Yorihime arrive in Gensokyo and went with Reimu Hakurei, Remilia Scarlet and Kanako Yasaka to destroy the Great Hakurei Border, only to be confronted by Watatsuki no Yorihime. Yorihime and her older sister Toyohime were tasked by Lord Tsukuyomi with carrying out Human Instrumentality Project, a plot to purify the Earth, and the Moonlight Descent Ceremony, a plan to reawaken the Moon so it can reunite with it. Yorihime and Toyohime tracked down Satori and Koishi Komeiji, two of the last remaining satoris on Earth. Approaching Satori, Yorihime presented her with artificial bodies for her and her sister to possess while Toyohime enlisted her help in carrying out the Human Instrumentality Project, which would give everyone on Earth third eyes and ensure the Komeiji sisters wouldn't be alone. Satori reluctantly agreed, and both she and Koishi were brought to Gensokyo in preparation for the Moonlight Descent Ceremony. The Watatsuki sisters also made a deal with Koakuma, letting her keep Patchouli to herself if she helped them in their plans. As part of the deal, Koakuma would become the one to inherit the powers of all the Gensokyo residents who died as part of the Moonlight Descent Ceremony. During the early stages of the Moonlight Descent Ceremony, Koakuma manipulated Koishi's rampage to lure Yukari Yakumo out, while the Watatsuki sisters dispatched Reisen II to assassinate the boundary youkai. While her sister led the Lunarian occupation of Earth in the Outside World, Yorihime went to Gensokyo to guard the Great Hakurei Border and keep anyone from destroying the gateway. Abilities Moon rabbit abilities Moon rabbits can send "ESP waves" and receive them with their ears, forming a sort of psychic network where they share feelings and rumors. Vanishing(?) In Chapter 2 of Silent Sinner in Blue, Reisen is shown to vanish from Reimu's sight and appear behind her. It is unclear whether this is a display of speed, teleportation or some other ability. Wakasagihime was among those transformed into a kaiju as a result of next wave of Moon-induced madness spreading over Gensokyo. At some point, she was killed by the Lunarians. In her profile, she's stated to be quite quiet and very composed. Perhaps as a direct result of being a mermaid, she benefits from increased power while underwater. Apparently she either keeps a low profile or everyone nearby just ignores her, as all playable characters in Double Dealing Character are quite surprised to see her there. Kagerou Imaizumi is surprised to hear of her attacking people, claiming that she is usually so timid that she wouldn't even kill a bug. Along with Kagerou, she is one of the few known members of the grassroots youkai network. Suwako and Kanako watched over Sanae Kochiya while she was in the Outside World and protected her from bullies at school. When a group of delinquents burned down her house and Sanae retaliated by killing them, Suwako and Kanako brought Sanae to Gensokyo to be their shrine maiden. After a crazed Sanae was killed by Kogasa Tatara, Suwako teamed up with the umbrella youkai to go to the Sanzu River to get the souls of Sanae and the youkai she had killed back. When they arrived there however, they found the river completely empty. After the Great Hakurei Barrier was destroyed, Suwako was forced into the Outside World. Ichirin Kumoi took part in Byakuren Hijiri's youkai uprising and the attack on the Human Village. After Unzan was slain by Toyosatomimi no Miko and her Mausoleum followers, Ichirin was killed when Miko sliced off the top of her head.As the Guarded, she is Unzan's handler and he is her protector. He is devoted to watching over her. As he is very shy, he will speak very quietly and only to her. After the Great Hakurei Barrier was destroyed, Momiji was transformed into a kaiju and forced into the Outside World. She was killed by the Lunarian and human forces.Aya Shameimaru and Hatate Himekaidou When she meets Aya they often get into fights with each other. According to Aya, Momiji looks down on her and the other crow tengu. Rin and Utsuho Reiuji accompanied Satori when she went to the Scarlet Devil Mansion to apologize for Koishi Komeiji's actions. When Satori was injured after getting into a fight with Patchouli Knowledge, she freaked out and ordered Rin and Utsuho to attack the mansion. Rin brought Satori to safety while Utsuho fought Patchouli. In the later part of the series, she was beheaded by Satori with bare hands to protect her from the Lunarians’ cruelty. History As madness spread across Gensokyo, Medicine Melancholy was forced to flee from an unknown force. It initially appeared to be Yuuka Kazami, but she in fact stepped in to protect Medicine from an attack.Medicine's fate after the Great Hakurei Barrier was destroyed is unknown. Species Since a few hundred years has still not passed from the time she became youkai, she is a novice youkai. Dolls are usually manipulated by humans. Because of this, she wishes for doll emancipation, but there aren't many dolls who agree with her since dolls can't move to begin with. She was a large doll used in ventriloquism. Although she is labeled as a youkai, Medicine's true nature may be that of a tsukumogami, as described in the Perfect Memento in Strict Sense article about the Eight Million Gods.

Kkhta Eirin

In the past, Eirin was sent by Lord Tsukuyomi to retrieve Kaguya Houraisan after she fled the Moon for Gensokyo, but upon meeting with her decided to stay in Gensokyo with her instead. Growing suspect of the Lunarians' plans, Eirin developed a special elixir to counteract the effects of the Moon's maddening rays and had it spread across Gensokyo in the form of rain.

History Yoshika accompanied Seiga when she arrived with Toyosatomimi no Miko and her other Taoist followers to defend the Human Village after it was attacked by the Myouren Temple's youkai uprising. Yoshika was later transformed into a Kaiju as a side effect of the preparations for the Moonlight Descent Ceremony. At some point, she was killed by the Lunarians after being forced into the Outside World by the Great Hakurei Border's destruction.
