Hinako is very achievement oriented -- someone who makes grand plans, and has the ability and drive to achieve them. However, she has similarly high hopes for her friends, which they often fail to meet. Fortunately she tempers this with patience and the ability to keep her cool when things aren’t working out, rather than getting upset with the others. Yayoi explains that getting other people into cycling is one of Hinako’s goals in life, but this is not entirely selfless. The Fleche which she wants to enter requires five people on the team, so if she doesn’t want to join someone else’s team, she has to come up with that many people herself. She is constantly reminding the others that they want to ride in the Fleche, although it is plain that it is Hinako who is the one who is most driven to do so. Hinako always presents her own goals as if they are everyone’s, as in, “you want to get stronger, right”, “you want to ride in the Fleche, right?”. Anime: Long Riders

Aoi Niigaki

She attends the same university. Ami is close to Aoi’s family, and has gone on family trips with them. Where Ami shows poor judgement, Aoi is always over prepared. She shows up for the overnight ride with extra headlamps. The others recognize how she clings to Ami, and make fun of her over it. Her suggestion for team name is "Team Amigo", which they note has "Ami" right in the name. Anime: Long Riders

Ami Kurata

She suffers from lack of confidence. She is hesitant to try new things, and needs encouragement and a slow approach towards getting started. She may be lacking somewhat in judgement, which can lead to bad outcomes, and tends to easily panic when things go awry. Pretty much every episode has her making a panicked face over something that she is struggling with. When she started University, she got a folding bicycle, primarily as a way to spend time with her best friend Aoi, who was riding a lot. With the increase of self-confidence which she got from that bike, she went on to acquire a road bike, so she could go on longer adventures with the experienced cyclists whom she had met.
