Kujaku

16
The rain poured from the gloomy, grey sky, like sheets, as Kujaku walked through the busy city streets. People dispensed from the streets, quickly seeking shelter from the downpour. The water ran in between the cobblestones, small streams running through the cracks, like small, clear rivers. Who would have thought that something as colourless as water could make clouds so dark. The city was alive with noise and activity, the hurried chatter of people, cars zooming, and the gentle pitter-patter of the rain. However, Kujaku's mind was elsewhere.
The memory of her face, her voice, her name guided Kujaku to find shelter at a bus stop. He was alone, entranced in his own thoughts. Suddenly, he was snapped out of his trance as another person took cover under the bus shelter. He looked up to see the face of the girl he had met in every life. In that moment, time stood still. The noise from the city faded into the background and the rain seemed to stand still. Kujaku's vibrant vermilion eyes widened at the sight of her. She was just as beautiful as all the other lifetimes. He gulped nervously, what would he say to her? Should he speak to her? Would she remember him, the way he remembers her?
