Before writing the Divine Comedy, a young Dante Aligheri fought in the battle of Campaldino in Tuscany in June of 1289. Fighting amongst the Guelphs, who were loyal to the Pope, a decisive victory was won over the Ghibellines, who served the Holy Roman Emperors.

It is the winter of 1450. You're a traveling merchant who has just arrived in Paris to find it eerily deserted. The people are all hiding indoors because for the last month a pack of rabid wolves have been hunting the streets of the city at night and the sun is setting!
