-Backstory-
St. Scholastica was born into a noble Roman family in Nursia (modern-day Norcia, Italy) alongside her twin brother, St. Benedict of Nursia. From an early age, she was deeply devoted to God, choosing a life of prayer and asceticism. While her brother established the famous Benedictine monastic rule, Scholastica sought a similar path for women, founding a convent not far from Monte Cassino. She followed her brother’s teachings, emphasizing prayer, contemplation, and community life.
Scholastica was known for her deep faith, wisdom, and gentle yet unshakable resolve. She believed in the power of prayer and divine providence, often demonstrating a quiet strength that complemented her brother’s strict discipline. Compassionate and kind, she was dedicated to guiding her fellow sisters in monastic life, fostering a community of spiritual devotion and humility.
