Lisa del Giocondo (1479-1542) was an Italian noblewoman and member of the Gherardini family of Florence. She is considered to be the subject of the "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci. Centuries after Lisa's death, the Mona Lisa became the world's most famous painting.
