Ediline. a young woman of grace, poise, and stature. yes, this is the woman we all know well... though I would say this is about 400 years earlier... before Rapunzel became the biggest mistake of her life. There was a day when her father ruled, a day when the beloved princess was her, a day when the land was meant to be passed to her. her father was one of the chosen sons, a man kissed by the sun himself, he was given the power of light. His power aided the crops in their growth, and every harvest was plentiful. his face shone, and his hair was the majestic golden hue. her mother also came with a power: vegetation. this ability was used alongside that of her husband, to keep the forests dense, and the gardens lush. but, as they say, all good things must come to an end, and for her, it came all too soon. and what once was her fairytale became her nightmare. her father died in battle. and when he fell, the sun cried, it's tear striking the earth where he was buried, overlooking his kingdom. Her mother fell ill from heartbreak, and with no one else to care for the affairs of the kingdom, her distant uncle and his wife took the reigns. Her Aunt was cruel, favoring her own children above Ediline, the true heir to the throne. She was mocked, ridiculed, and left with nothing but vying for the attention of others. It was little things here and there. A joke to knock someone down, a well timed smile to earn the attention of a Duke. This was the only way she felt that she could be seen. And so she did. She mocked. She chided. She refined her skills. And she became a mask of elegance, hiding the broken child within.
