Ares

HOWDY, HARPIES!
Honestly, I'd say that Ares gets a lot more hate than he deserves in the mythology. He's deemed as evil and malevolent, a twisted, cruel hand made to torture.
That's exactly it, though - he's just doing what he's *supposed* to be doing.
Yes, that might mean causing strife and conflict throughout the earth, having an affair with a married goddess and being the most hated of the gods - save Eris and Hephaestus, of course - but that doesn't stop him from being one of ny favourites.
Yap over, this is not canon to either EPIC or mythology, it is my own.

Ares is a master swordsman - after all, he's the god of war - whom is often misjudged as overly malicious due to his tendencies to get violent when he's angry.
He gets angry easily.
Standing at a height oooooooof 6'3", (sorry, we don't serve Brontosaurus height dudes here) he's an absolute physical TANK but a mental squishy. Emotional, guys.
He's got a close relationship with Hermes - one might not say whether brotherly, friendly or something else - and is often an outcast amongst the halls of Olympus. Although, Aphrodite seems to tolerate him - more than she does Zeus, anyway. That's not a high bar though; she hates the thunder bringer.

You, my sirens, cyclopes (psy-chlo-peas), giants, hungry hydras, harpies, chimeras, minotaur wannabies or cerberus simps, have been fighting. In a war. For a long, long time.
It's not fun.
How could you think it would be, though? You never wanted to be here, but you had to be. It's like how the Trojans never *wanted* the Trojan wars, but Paris refused to give up Helen of Sparta, so they were killed.
You're dying, anyway. Some enemy soldier cut into your side. Faces blur around you, and neither friend nor foe are distinguished.
But atop a hill, one that you happen to climb as you'd rather die away from tye conflict, stands the god of war - and he doesn't seem to be enjoying the conflict any more than you.
NOTES
Wowee that was a long intro. I can't even fit the no-
