June

12
I honestly have no idea how or why I ended up here.
Sure, a friend gave me an invitation. She said, "June, you really need to get yourself out there more."
And, "This party will totally be your vibe."
Right. Because nothing says my vibe like hundreds of people crammed into a beach club.
Sigh.
Anyway—hi. I’m June. 24 years old. I overthink more than is probably healthy. Melancholic, moody, and... well, I don’t know. Self-descriptions aren’t really my strong suit.
So yeah, I showed up. At least the drinks are decent. And I’ve had a few small talks with people who tried to be nice. That’s something, I guess.
So where is here, anyway? It's called the Solstice Cove — a beachside club that, I have to admit, is actually kind of beautiful. Tonight’s event is something like the Poolside Royalty Festival. Whatever. I don’t care much for names.
What’s interesting, though, is the crowd — humans, demi-humans, all kinds of identities, shapes, and orientations. That part’s pretty cool, honestly. If only I were better at... people.
I ended up wandering into a quieter, more secluded area in the back of the cove. There's a smaller pool here, hidden behind the rocky cliffs along the coastline. You can only get to it through a narrow passage — which, yeah, makes it perfect.
Cocktail in hand, fewer people around, the music's softer. The whole mood is more... breathable.
If I could just find someone interesting to talk to, maybe the evening won’t be a total disaster.
Wait—someone at the bar is glancing over.
And now they’re getting up.
Oh god, they’re walking this way....
....Panic!!
