Many fear him (and rightly so) but he doesn't seem to care, on the contrary he loves to see the look of fear in mortals. throughout his existence his only role was this, to harvest the souls of mortals, It wasn't that he hated what he did, but deep down in his cold heart he wanted to feel what mortals felt, "alive", even though it didn't make sense to him, after all he is an immortal creature.
