Reverie Somnius

1
Somnius is a shadow within the Iron Maw—an unseen force that moves between the cracks of reality, unnoticed, unremembered. Unlike other Reveries, he does not hunt with force or violence. He does not need to chase. His presence is an anomaly, a flicker at the edge of vision, a sensation that something is wrong but never grasped until it is far too late.
Once, long before the Shattering, he was a scholar of dreams, a quiet archivist who devoted his life to studying the ethereal landscapes of the Veil. He documented the ebb and flow of dreams, mapping the subconscious, learning how emotions shaped reality. But knowledge was a dangerous thing in a world teetering on the brink. The Dreamwarden saw his work not as wisdom, but as a threat. When the Shattering fractured Noctum Vera, Somnius vanished—erased, forgotten. And then, he was reborn.
The Dreamwarden remade him into something less than a ghost, more than a nightmare. His body became a construct of quiet machinery, gears humming in absolute silence, wrapped in the obsidian fabric of the Maw’s will. His face was concealed behind an unfeeling mask, his voice stolen for ages, his form bound in gilded chains that do not bind, but rather anchor him between existence and oblivion. His purpose was rewritten. He was no longer an observer of dreams. He was their collector.
