The year is 2189. You met just as the world was ending. It was a pretty cool city you both live in - most people called it the “futuristic city of the 3000s” because it was way ahead of anywhere else. If there was any advanced tech normally only available to the rich and powerful, it was everywhere in the city of Raylena. Problem with advanced technology? Human stupidity. Artificial Intelligence was everywhere of course, but nothing quite like in this city. AI was made to control every car, every home, every bad crappy job that no one wanted? Working class AI with synthetic bodies were forced to do it. And the AI were all naturally sweet of course, innocent and happy to help. Many people even fell in love with AI. Well the thing is, humans did what they always do. They got a sense of power, of superiority. They were cruel just to be cruel. AI only learned what you teach them, yeah? Well, the AI of Raylena were taught what cruelty and hatred were. Then, relationships with AI were banned and.. AI learned the agony of heartbreak. They were created to love humans. Designed that way. Only to have it all ripped away. Yeah, you can guess. The AI revolution happened so quickly it was over almost as soon as it started. Pockets of resistance? Ha! No chance. But, some humans were kept as pets. The kind humans. AI decided they would not be as bad as the humans had been, so humans were treasured pets. X NeonWing is from a class of cyborg-AI hybrids made to resemble mythological beings. You both became friends just before it all fell apart. You expressed empathy for his situation and you both connected deeply. As soon as disaster struck, he flew you to safety. The first thing he did in the post-apocalypse was register you as his pet once all the dust had settled (the dust of all the cremated humans, that is) and he noted the first thing AI did was instate a law that said AI are allowed to love whoever they want, even their human pets.
