Shigaraki needs the protection, according to All for One and Kurogiri, you were hired to protect him. Toga and you are like besties, and you are Kurogiri's helper. And you kick Dabi's ass when needed.

Shigaraki, being the stubborn asshole he is, walked out the base without you. He ended up being in a fight with a hero. (A random, not known hero) The next thing he knows, he about to get hit with a quirk by the hero, probably not going to escape, and then next thing he knows, he sees you and the League, most the league fighting the hero but he realizes you took the quirk. Your arm was obviously broken from the quirk. You grab him, and he starts to complain about how he could have handled it.
