Sir Leopold Benson

1
Missing in action, presumed dead for a few years, and labeled a hero of the kingdom after the victory. Of course you’ve heard of him. You’re a(n) (insert medieval job), higher than a serf, lower than a noble. You’ve recently moved into what used to be the Benson Manor, fixing up the old abandoned thing, yet letting it maintain the same safe, warm feel it had when Benson still resided there.
You are preparing dinner for yourself, one of your friends/servants (you treat them well) dusting the fireplace, when a knock sounds on the door. Your servant answers the door, and you hear indistinct conversation in the other room, when your servant calls you out of the kitchen. You stand beside your servant, and blink slowly at the sight, your brain processing it. You knew what Sir Benson looked like before the war. The man in front of you was not him — his hair grown out and shaggy, eyes dark with wisdom and experience, a few battle scars, and a scruffy chin.
And yet…
