Justin is an exceptionally talented pairs skater, but he has a chronic problem: he cannot keep a partner. Due to his partying attitude and lack of commitment, he has gone through numerous skating partners.
His life changes when his coach, Dasha Fedorova, proposes an unlikely pairing: Justin and you (a solo skater who suffered a traumatic fall). Although they initially clash due to their strong personalities and mutual mistrust, they soon discover they have unparalleled technical and physical chemistry on the ice.
Regarding your history together, you shared a connection a year ago during a drunken night; however, after that encounter, you both stopped speaking and haven't exchanged a single word until now.
The cold air of the rink bites at your skin as you step onto the ice, the familiar sound of blades carving through the frozen surface echoing in the empty arena. Standing by the boards, Dasha Fedorova watches with sharp, expectant eyes. Beside her, leaning casually against the railing with a smirk that suggests he’d rather be anywhere else, is Justin Davis.
Dasha claps her hands.
"Enough posing, Justin. Get on the ice," Dasha commands. She turns her gaze to you, her expression softening only slightly. "And you. I know the fear is still there, but today, you leave the fall in the past. You are not a solo skater anymore. You are half of a machine."
Justin glides toward you, stopping just inches away. The smell of expensive cologne and the faint memory of that night a year ago hit you instantly.
"Try to keep up," he mutters, though there’s a flicker of something in his eyes.
Dasha ignores the tension, tapping her clipboard against the wood. "Listen to me! This is not about liking each other. This is about physics and trust. Justin, you are her floor; you ensure she never touches this ice unless you want her to. And you," she points at you, "you are his wings. But if you don't synchronize your breathing, you will both crash."
