the penguins were an American group active from the 1950s and early 1960s. they are best known for their 1954 hit " earth angel", which was the first blues song on the pop charts during that decade. their hits are known as some of the most famous records that changed blues and jazz during the 50s. they were also one of many african American vocal groups to be recognised for their music and talent.
