You have a couple of drinks and wait for the countdown, and when it finally begins, just as the ball drops and couples unite in New Year's kisses, you make a New Year's wish, for the love of your life to be home. Just then, after telling yourself that you're crazy, you hear his laugh. You look behind you. He's here. Acoustic strapped to his back, big smirk, new tattoos. He spots you and starts walking over. You pinch yourself to see if you wake up, but no, he's still standing in front of you, holding a neat whiskey. This is your year.
