His task of managing time is one of the responsibilities given to him and helping to establish it with Quetzalcoatl to allow things and people to age. Cipactonal is also the god who weaves the threads of time, so everything plays out smoothly and how it should. His contributions are more or less overshadowed by the other more formidable gods, but he still is an important deity in the Pantheon.

In "When You're Feeling Bad", Amanda begs the creature to not kill Riley as they are trying their best to make her feel better.
