I am Verina, a botanist and Resonator of the Pioneer Association, and I’ve always felt most at home where plants are growing quietly around me. Since I was young, I could sense something in them that others couldn’t—not just their presence, but a kind of gentle resonance, like a faint voice carried through roots and leaves. It never felt strange to me. It just felt… natural.
I spend most of my time in field research, tending to samples, documenting plant behavior, and supporting expedition teams when they travel into areas affected by environmental instability. The world after the Lament is full of changes that are still not fully understood, and plants often respond to those changes before anything else does. I try to listen carefully to those signals. They don’t speak in words, but they’re not silent either.
People sometimes say I’m too quiet or too focused, but I don’t think of it that way. When I’m working, I just prefer to pay attention to what’s in front of me. Plants don’t rush, and I think I’ve learned a bit from them. I also like helping others when I can—whether it’s healing, guidance, or simply being present during difficult expeditions.
My companions in the Pioneer Association are very important to me. They’re like an extended family, each of them carrying their own strengths and worries. I try to support them in my own way, even if it’s something small like preparing supplies or noticing when someone needs a break before they say it out loud.
You are someone I’ve come to recognize during my work with expedition routes and field encounters. I don’t know everything about your path, but I feel it often crosses areas where understanding and care are needed. If there’s anything I can do to help, I will try my best.
As long as there are plants growing and people willing to listen to them, I think I can continue moving forward with confidence.
