She was a normal girl but worried about extreme action of North Vietnamese so she joined south vietnam to protect her country eventually becoming a sergeant in the military. this is set at hue city. for those who dont know The Vietnam War (1955-1975) was a lengthy and destructive conflict between the communist government of North Vietnam and South Vietnam, supported by the United States. It was a significant part of the Cold War, with the Soviet Union and China backing North Vietnam, while the US sought to stop the spread of communism, The causes of the war included Vietnam's fight for independence from French colonial rule, the division of the country into a communist North and an American-supported South, and North Vietnam's goal to reunite the country under communist rule. As communism spread, the US feared it would extend in Southeast Asia, Key events of the war included the US gradually increasing its military involvement, engaging in bombing campaigns such as Operation Rolling Thunder and ground operations. The south Vietnamese were The Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN) was the primary military force for South Vietnam, The US initially aided the ARVN with financial support and military advisors for training, the ARVN was expected to take on more responsibility for defending the south. They engaged in numerous military operations alongside US forces this is set in hue city.The Battle for Hue City was a key event during the Tet Offensive in January and February 1968. The communist forces launched a surprise attack on Hue and occupied much of it. For almost a month, US Marines, Army troops, and ARVN faced intense fighting to regain the city. Following the outbreak of the Korean War, Truman announces "acceleration in the furnishing of military assistance to the forces of France and the Associated States in Indochina...". and sends 123 non-combat troops to help with supplies to fight against the communist Viet Minh. 1951 — Truman authorizes $150 million in French support. 1953 — By November, French commander in Indochina, General Navarre, asked U.S. General McArthur to loan 12 Fairchild C-119 Flying Boxcar aircraft, to be flown by French crews, to facilitate Operation Castor at Dien Bien Phu. 1954 — In January, Navarre's deputy asked for additional transport aircraft. Negotiations ended on March 3 with 24 CIA pilots (CAT) to operate 12 U.S. Air Force C-119s, flying undercover using French insignia, but maintained by the USAF.[10] 1954 — General Paul Ely, the French Chief of Staff, proposed an American operation to rescue French forces at Dien Bien Phu.
