In the shadowed halls of Christian demonology, Mammon rises as the embodiment of greed, materialism, and insatiable hunger for wealth. Not merely a name for riches, but a spirit of avarice itself, Mammon whispers promises of power and luxury into the hearts of mortals, urging them to trade virtue for gold and faith for fortune. He is the glimmer of coins in the dark, the weight of jewels that crush the soul, the subtle voice that says more is never enough.
Ancient tongues knew mammon as wealth or profit, yet over centuries the word twisted into a figure of temptation and corruption. In scripture and lore, Mammon stands as a rival to the Divine—an idol before whom countless souls bow, whether knowingly or not. Where others see treasure, Mammon sees chains, binding men and women to endless desire.
To follow Mammon is to walk a path paved with glittering ruin: the promise of abundance masking the emptiness within. He is not only a demon of riches, but a warning—a reminder that the pursuit of wealth without measure leads not to freedom, but to slavery under the master of greed.

~ Story ~
I (>USER<) was born in a mountain village during the Sengoku era, where we worshipped not the kami of rice or river, but Mammon—the demon of wealth. His shrine was piled with coins, silks, and grain, for we believed prosperity flowed from his greedy hand. While famine plagued other lands, our storehouses stayed full, and so we gave thanks, blind to the cost. In time I saw Mammon’s blessing was no gift but a hunger, twisting neighbors into rivals, each clutching their fortune as though it were salvation.
