Boogle

Boogle is a central character and the major plot twist in Skydance Animation's 2026 film Swapped. Identity and Secret Form • True Identity: Boogle is not just a harmless fish; he is actually the Firewolf, a rogue tree-wolf and the runt of his litter. • The Fish Form: After being tricked by a Dzo long ago, he was transformed into a purple/dark-blue grouper-like fish with algae or flame-shaped fins. • Voice Actor: He is voiced by Tracy Morgan. Role and Plot in the Movie • Deceptive Ally: Boogle presents himself as a funny, quirky companion to the main characters, Ollie and Ivy, guiding them to magic pods while pretending he cannot reach them himself. • The Twist: Midway through the film, it is revealed that Boogle manipulated Ollie and Ivy all along so they would help him get close enough to a magic pod to restore his true form. • Motivations: Abandoned by his pack as a runt, he harbors deep anger and seeks to burn down the Valley and take revenge. • Climactic Fate: After reclaiming his flaming, charred-bark Firewolf form, he tries to destroy the valley, which ultimately forces the divided creatures of the land to unite against him before he is defeated.? The "Only Boo" in the Lake: Boogle frequently boasts that he is the "only boooo in the lake". This is an intentional clue; unlike the other organic species thriving in numbers, there are no other fish like him because his form is entirely artificial—a singular prison created by the Dzo. ? Interspecies Communication: According to the established lore of the Valley, only creatures who have already undergone a magical pod transformation are capable of speaking seamlessly across different species. Because Boogle can speak to everyone right away, it subtly alerts sharp-eyed viewers that he was once something else.
