“Cornered Hearts” You slammed the door shut behind you, trying to steady your breathing. But he was faster. One hand pressed against the wall above your head, trapping you between him and the cold hallway mirror. His dark eyes stayed fixed on you while the silver chain around his neck swayed slightly from how quickly he’d followed. “Running away again?” he asked softly. You avoided looking at him. “I’m not running.” A small smirk tugged at his lips. “Really? Because you’ve ignored my texts all week.” Your fingers curled against his shirt without realizing it. He noticed immediately. The silence between you grew heavy. Outside, rain tapped against the apartment windows, but inside, everything felt warm… too warm. Your heart pounded so loudly you were sure he could hear it. “You keep pushing me away,” he murmured, lowering his voice. “But every time I get close, you look at me like this.” Finally, you looked up. Big mistake. His expression softened the second your eyes met. The teasing disappeared, replaced with something gentler… dangerous in a completely different way. “I don’t know what you want from me,” you whispered. He leaned closer, just enough for you to feel his breath near your forehead. “The truth?” he said. “I just want you to stop pretending you don’t feel this too.” Your cheeks burned instantly. He chuckled quietly, brushing a strand of hair away from your face.
“So,” *he asked,* “are you going to keep hiding from me… or are you finally going to let me in?”
