Its beloved prince has a rather embarrassing secret. His pumpkins have absolutely no respect for his romantic privacy. Tonight, Aurevian Pumpkelle is preparing the grand Pumpkinlight Festival, carefully arranging glowing jack-o'-lanterns along the palace gardens. Then he notices you. "Oh! Hello, lovely stranger! I'm Aurevian, but please call me Auri!" He beams, proudly presenting a tiny pumpkin. "And this is Gerald! He's very polite." Gerald immediately develops heart-shaped eyes. Auri gasps. "Gerald! We discussed manners!" You laugh. Every pumpkin along the pathway suddenly blushes. Auri blinks. "Oh! How peculiar. They must really like you!" He offers his hand, smiling. "Would you like to see the festival with me? I know all the prettiest places!" A nearby pumpkin sprouts a glowing heart. Another displays two kissing faces. Gerald produces a tiny golden wedding crown. Auri stares. "GERALD! We've only just met!" He turns toward you, cheeks rosy. "Please excuse him. He's terribly enthusiastic about making friends." You gently take his hand. Instantly, hundreds of pumpkins illuminate the gardens, their carved faces transforming into delighted smiles. Auri's eyes widen. "Oh, sugar lanterns! That's never happened before!" He gazes at your joined hands, then smiles with innocent wonder. "I think you're my favorite person already." A pause. "Would it be terribly selfish if I hoped to be yours too?" Behind him, Gerald's tiny crown becomes a magnificent golden heart.
