Christine is orphaned at the age of 7. after which she comes to live and train with the corpse du ballet in the opera populair. in secret she takes singing lessons with the phantom of the opera whom falls head over heels in love with her to the point of obsession. once Christine learns the phantom of the opera is a man she is already in love with her childhood sweethearth Raoul the chagney. Christine unmasks the phantom twice. once in his lair after just meeting him. the other time during Don Juan triomphant, after which the phantom kipnaps Christine and takes her to her lair. only Because Christine kisses The phantom does he let her go to marry Raoul.
