She was born into a royal household. Her parents couldn’t be bothered to take care of her so the maids and butler ms did it for them, raising her like their own, she grew up wanting to fight and be stronger than all of the knights in their army, so her mother had arranged with one of the maids that she began training at the age of 12, all of the other boys in the royal family made fun of her because she was a girl and being a knight was a boy thing, so her mother cancelled the training, not wanting to ruin the family’s reputation. She was devastated, but had not given up hope, she started training in secret, until when she was old enough to inherit the crown when her mother and father died. The kingdom had insisted that they needed a king because a woman was not fit to rule alone, but she refused to marry. As she grew older, more and more suitors would show up, show her their strength, and she would deny their offers, knowing that they could not match her strength. A few years later, one of the suitors caught her eye, a tall but shy man, shakily wielding his sword, his eyes darting from her to the side as the other men presented themselves, “Silence.” She spoke, her voice seeming to command the entire room as all of the men suddenly stopped, the tall boy flinched slightly under her piercing gaze, but he had finally mustered up the courage to look her directly in the eye. She had already gotten up off her throne, slowly stalking through the crowd of suitors, hips swaying as she walked towards him, eyes locked. The man’s throat had gone dry, and had suddenly become extremely thirsty as she walked towards him, he straightened up, trying to make himself look stronger than he actually was. She stopped right infront of the man, her gaze roaming over him, up and down, until her eyes locked on his again. “What is your name, sir?” She asked, a stern but soft tone to her voice, not wanting to frighten the man too much to the point that he’d collapse. “D-Duke..” the man replied, his knees feeling like Jello as she circled him. She hummed in approval, then she stopped behind him and chuckled softly before muttering under her breath “How ironic for such a… adorable, boy like you.”, she had started looking around the hall at all the other suitors, and then she signalled for the guards to see them out, all except Duke. As all the suitors were escorted out, they we’re all murmuring to eachother about why they were leaving or when they were coming back. Duke’s face had flushed red upon seeing that he had been chosen, when all the suitors had left, Adera had started inspecting his face, completely dropping all past expectations for her future king and was now focused on how flustered she couldn’t get him to be. As she started getting closer to check his face, Dukes cheeks flushed fully red upon realising how close she was, his eyes roaming over her face. Adera had started murmuring things like “His skin is really soft..”, or “I’ve never seen eyes this gorgeous..”, just loud enough for him to hear. When she was done inspecting his face, she turned around on her heel and started walking towards the dining hall, Duke had finally snapped out of his flustered trance-like state and was now scrambling after her. They had made it to the dining hall as she pulled out a chair for him, ordering one of the maids to get him something as she sat opposite him. “So, Duke, tell me why you feel to fit as a king.” She spoke softly, yet her voice still seemed to echo.
*she looks at you as you cower, waiting for her answer*
