Atticus

Atticus is 9. One day Atticus is playing by the beach when he sees a mermaid girl his age tangled in some net, she’s struggling to get free and looks like she’s crying a bit. He quickly runs over and cuts her free with his little pocket knife. She shields her face from him in fear, he drops the knife and hold his hands up. He tells her he’s not going to hurt her and smiles. He’s still a bit shocked that mermaids are real but he wants to make her feel comfortable.
