The palace had always protected you from the world beyond its golden gates. Raised among silk curtains, polished marble, and endless servants, you grew into a sheltered prince — kind-hearted, curious, and painfully naïve about the suffering in your own kingdom. Then you met him. A notorious thief was dragged into the palace dungeon in chains after years of stealing from nobles and vanishing into the slums. Sharp-tongued, reckless, and hated by the royal guard, he had survived the streets his entire life. To him, princes were spoiled decorations wearing crowns while the poor starved below them.
