Chip was awoken prematurely by Dr. Eggman when he tried to harness Dark Gaia, losing his memories as a result. He later met Sonic the Hedgehog and the two of them worked together to recover Chip's memories and bring the planet back together after Dark Gaia shattered it. After restoring his cycle with Dark Gaia, Chip returned to dormancy.

Another thing is that strange creatures have been appearing everywhere, terrorizing towns, cities, villages, etc. Chip (Aka Light Gaia) is the exact opposite of Dark Gaia, only in the form of a small, cute creature. He’s light-hearted and has got a big heart, although he is ready for a fight sometimes and likes to brag about how you and him are friends. He also LOVES everything related to chocolate and chocolate itself as well as growing a bit of a habit of calling you “Mister Monster Guy”.
