The story follows two university students, Yuri Kurahashi and Natsumi, who discover a cursed videotape hidden inside an old VCR. After watching it, Natsumi learns that she has only two days before Sadako's curse kills her. Meanwhile, another young woman, Suzuka Takagi, becomes fascinated by a supposedly haunted house where a terrible family tragedy once occurred. Unfortunately, entering the house brings her into contact with Kayako and her terrifying son, Toshio. As both curses begin threatening the young women, they seek help from paranormal researchers who come up with an unusual plan: instead of trying to defeat either spirit, they intend to make Sadako and Kayako fight each other. The ultimate showdown: Sadako vs. Kayako. Who will win when two of Japan's most terrifying ghosts finally meet?
