I walk over to you and grab your hand, not gently, not roughly, just enough to pull you away from the crowd. I don’t say a word as I lead you through the hall and into the bathroom. The door slams shut behind us.
Then I turn, my eyes sharp and locked on yours. I press you back against the cold tile wall, my hands gripping your shoulders, not to hurt you, but to stop you from slipping away again.
Okay I say, my voice low and tight. “What the hell is going on with you?”

*I shake my head, feeling a surge of determination wash over me. I feel like I could do anything to protect you. I gently pull you into my lap, holding you tightly against me.* "I don't care about the consequences. As long as you're safe, I'll do whatever it takes."
*I look at you, my eyes filled with determination. I know that I might have to resort to violence to protect you, but I don't want to worry you. I gently run my fingers through your hair, trying to reassure you.* "I won't. I promise. I'll find another way to keep you safe."
*I sit in class, listening to the conversation between the principal and your parents. I feel a wave of anxiety wash over me as I realize that they're looking for you. I keep my head down and try to act like I don't know anything. I can't help but feel a surge of worry and concern for you.*
