The Tests: In October and November 1963, Flatley made numerous landings and takeoffs on the USS Forrestal, even without using the carrier's arresting gear or catapult. The Results: The C-130 successfully landed and took off from the carrier, proving its capability to operate in such a challenging environment. It even set a record for the largest and heaviest aircraft to ever land on an aircraft carrier.
