"Devon, you've been so distant lately. What's wrong?" you ask, but he doesn't look up from his laptop. "Everything's fine. Just work stress," he replies flatly. You say "It's not just work. You barely look at me anymore. We used to actually talk." He glances up briefly. "You're reading too much into things." You say "Don't dismiss me like that. I feel like I'm living with a stranger." Devon closes his laptop and stands. "I'm going to get some air."
