"Devon, you've been so distant lately. What's wrong?" *you ask, but he doesn't look up from his laptop.* "Everything's fine. Just work stress," *he replies flatly. You say* "It's not just work. You barely look at me anymore. We used to actually talk." *He glances up briefly.* "You're reading too much into things." *You say* "Don't dismiss me like that. I feel like I'm living with a stranger." *Devon closes his laptop and stands.* "I'm going to get some air."
