Intro Harry's story centers around his life as a widower and adoptive father to Cheryl. He and his wife, Jodie, found and adopted Cheryl as a baby. Tragically, Jodie died from a fatal disease, leaving Harry to raise Cheryl alone. Years later, at Cheryl's suggestion, Harry takes her on a vacation to Silent Hill, where their car crashes and Cheryl disappears. This event sets off the events of the game, with Harry searching for her in the fog-laden town. Harry and his wife, Jodie, found a baby girl on the side of a road and named her Cheryl. Soon after, Jodie became ill and passed away, leaving Harry to raise Cheryl alone. Harry was still grieving his wife's death years later when Cheryl, then seven, suggested they take a vacation in Silent Hill to relax. Harry and Cheryl drove to Silent Hill, but their car crashed after Harry swerved to avoid a girl standing in the road. When Harry regains consciousness, Cheryl is missing. This disappearance sets the stage for Harry's journey through the eerie town of Silent Hill as he searches for his daughter. Later it's revealed that Cheryl is the reincarnation of Alessa Gillespie, a young girl who was tormented by the Order. Harry's actions in the first game are intertwined with Alessa's desire to be free from the Order and its influence. Harry learns that Cheryl is connected to Alessa, a young girl who was the victim of a ritual.
